Sorry I wasn’t able to upload the video by 4/4:30 yesterday guys, my partner didn’t get his parts done yet. And I’m actually currently still waiting on him to finish his animations so I can add it to the video.
But anyway, here is a rendering of everything that I’ve gotten done already. Since my post last Wednesday about finishing the video, I’ve been working hard on adding all the content and edits that we weren’t able to finish before.
There’s roughly 16-20 more animation + live footage sequences that I’ve added. While you may not notice all the little details, there are some more fun incorporations of our character with the live action figure demonstrating the process. I wanted to make sure that the character didn’t seem out of place throughout the whole thing. I know that was my biggest concern during the creation of this video actually, I remember telling Justin whenever I felt something would be out of place or not quite seamless in it’s execution.
We took on quite a task with all the animation that we decided to include, but I’m pretty happy with the (almost) end result of what we have here. Another change since the last update that I posted, was the fact that I did some basic color correction to the footage during the editing process, but I wasn’t done with color grading it to achieve the emotional and visual aesthetic that we had originally decided upon. With the additional time that I had over the weekend to finish this project, I edited the overall completed footage with 3 new adjustment layers with different curves and lighting effects to achieve the final result of this warm, almost faded, vintage-like appearance. While most cinematic color grading processes for professional film pushes the contrast and saturation of a more “flat” raw footage, I took the “flat” raw footage and only enhanced the contrast and saturation a little bit, while pushing the flatness and colors to have this dreamy and innocent color palette that we outlined in our initial project presentation. The end goal was to create an artistic version of the overly bright and saturated products that are geared towards the kid generation.
Enough talk… here it is!
