Okay, you got me. This isn’t an actual How To post. But I like to make bad jokes whenever I can, and this “How To” project gives me the opportunity to use that phrase in nonsensical ways! Anywho… User Experience (UX). What a broad term. We’re taking this class in UX right now and I’m excited to see what I’ll have at the end of the semester. I think the user experience design is a great term that could actually be applied to any graphic design. I mean we are design for someone else’s eyes right? Your eyes are used to experience things visually. Haha. Well our first project is a very visual based endeavor. We will be creating a How To video about a topic of our choosing and are allowed to work either by ourselves or with a partner. My partner is the wonderful Justin Skaggs. Luckily, we have similar tastes in humor and want to create a video that is sarcastic, dry, and parodic with a great voice over. Who says you can’t have fun with design?
And this one isn’t a how to video at all really, but it’s an interesting commentary on visual comedy when directing.
So far our lists have consisted of several wacky and farfetched ideas. My brainstorming came up with some of these topics.
So many ideas! And I’m still not sure what to go with. If you have any thoughts, please share!
I also read this article, “How Apple is Giving Design a Bad Name“. It was an interesting article about how Apple sacrificed functionality for beauty in design. They traded legibility, discoverability, recoverability, and consistency for a design aesthetic that––while it may be minimal and beautiful–is a pain to use at times and difficult to learn and get accustomed to. I agreed with several points in the article while reading it as they mentioned little things that I’ve always hated about Apple, and yet I own a handful of Apple products due to the popularity of it and convenience with some of the programs that I like to use.
