It’s done! Well. One of the videos is done.
I messed up and thought I had enough time to get everything done and had some difficulties during the process of adding the motion graphics to the first video and slowed down halfway during the project. I was definitely having difficulty with time management between all the classes, deadlines, and midterms. Oh, and let’s not forget the 2 & 1/2 jobs.
Ugh. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna need to quit this data entry position and just sell some of my organs on the black market for money instead. Kidding. But I’m gonna start looking for more scholarships and such to help me with finances so I don’t have to work so much. This program is too rigorous for me to be working this much during the semester. Well, either it’s too rigorous or I just care a lot and spend too much time on fine details that people don’t even notice. It’s probably a mix of both, plus the fact that my workflow is kinda on the slower side of things right now. I’m working on speeding that up.
Back to the topic at hand though, here are the two videos that I made for my Narrative class. Although I threw my heart and soul into the creation of both videos, I was only able to finish the first one fully. Towards the middle of this project, I had to switch over to hand drawn works that I scanned in and vectored to animate over the footage. Originally, I had used the brush tool and was having major difficulties drawing some of the graphics that I wanted to.
For my second one, I changed the idea at least 4 times and finally decided to try to do a kinetic typography piece. I think it was a fitting choice considering the title of the project itself. Alas, I’ve never worked with Kinetic Type animation before, and was only able to finish about half of the video. There are also a couple changes I’ll be making to it as I finish it for the end of the semester & my portfolio. The quote is from Francis Bacon, a famous English painter that I admire.
Here are all the storyboards I had for the remainder of the video.
