I haven’t been updating the process of this project as much as I’d like, but I’m finally done editing all the photography for the book design for my 36 Hours book design project for Typography. (I’ve been busy updating those academic posters at least though!)
Anyway, I don’t want to tell you the total idea for my book design since we may be having other students critique it… and they might see this blog post and it would just be a total giveaway.
Here are some progress pics, though!
But, generally, I’m breaking the book up into 3 chapters. Each one representing a different part of my life with different types of pacing and overall photographic content. Although the photos are all black and white, I hope to capture a different mood in each chapter with lots of breathing room for the viewer to form their own thoughts an opinions. But there will be colored graphic illustration overlays on some of the pages, while other pages will have more of a digital typographic design to continue the movement throughout the novel.
I’m considering screw post binding because I feel that it’s a nice clean, no fuss exterior that echoes with my own personality and honest/candid traits.
I’m pretty fuckin’ stoked about the progress so far and this allows me to have some fun with personal illustrations and sharing my thoughts. It’s basically a book for myself that was prompted by my Typography class. I always love book designs, so I’m definitely having lots of fun.
I’ll be taking a couple more photos tonight because I wanted to replace a few that I have chosen, but overall, I am making some great leeway!
