In case you were wondering, this is what my studio desk looks like… I finally cleaned up the wall but the original postings on there were all scattered and just crazy. But yeah so there’s that. As well as all my latest progress with my two posters!
I finally got the Charlie Brown tribute poster done. I think. I guess we’ll see. This was a fun design that definitely presented me with some problems to solve. Here was the original large format poster that I had designed and pinned up at the beginning of the day.
Basically, it’s in the shape of the top view of a piano because I wanted to convey the jazz piano that will be played at the performance by David Benoit. If you look closely, it is composed of various patterns that create a Charlie Brown influenced knitted sweater appearance (with the piano keys at the bottom). BUT! If you step back and look at it for a little bit longer, you might also spot the mitten! The overall shape of the top of the piano really resembles a mitten to me so I was playing off that concept as well.
Here are some revisions I made. Can you spot the differences? haha
If it helps, the revisions go from left to right, top to bottom… with the bottom right one being my chosen design for review on Friday. The only thing that I’ve just noticed is how much it resembles one of those Despicable Me minions if you’re squinting at it, which is a cartoon so it exudes that childish fun feel maybe. I spent a good amount of time on this today and was having difficulty with the placement of the required elements as well as size/hierarchy of some parts. But I’m pretty happy with that I’ve got now, so we shall just wait and see!
Here’s a close up of my chosen design for final review.
What do you think? Any thoughts on what could be improved/ fine tuned?
That’s it for now, I’m exhausted and I still gotta do some reading for my Western Thought class tomorrow.
Good night, world!
