Recently, we had a Narrative class where we were doing a tutorial by Scott McCarthy from Liquid 9, where he gave us an After Effects rundown tutorial on an animation for an F1 Engine. Although my instructor said I caught on pretty quick (Thanks again, Emmy!) for never having worked with After Effects before… I still wanted to do the tutorial again to make sure I had a solid grasp on the interface and functions of the program.
So here is my final result, I changed the shape to a triangle instead of a circle and a couple other small things to mess around with the animation. (Let’s be real though, who doesn’t love triangles?)
I’m pretty happy with the overall result of me re-doing the tutorial, and I definitely feel more confident with After Effects basics (there’s still a lot I wanna learn though).
Basically, I spent all of Labor Day recording and editing the initial video for my first half of my Kinetic Typography project (and it put me a bit behind in other classes, so now I gotta haul ass. haha) But I’m really excited about how it turned out. I drove for two hours westward and got a chance to work with my talented, dear friend Justin Kellar, a photographer/videographer in Columbia, MO. Make sure you click and check out his super rad work!
Overall, it was a fun day of shooting and I definitely forgot how much I missed making and editing videos. I might have to start doing more video work soon because it’s so much fun!
As of right now, I won’t give you the full nitty gritty narrative of the video since I’m not done adding the motion portion, but whenever I get done with that… I’ll post a description with it to see if you get the idea within the short video.
